With the loss by the East Texas Pump Jacks yesterday, the Victoria Generals clinched the number one seed in the Texas Collegiate League playoffs, which begin this upcoming Sunday. The Generals have enjoyed a spectacular inaugural season, compiling a 26-14 record thus far.
The Generals are currently leading the league in batting average at .254, as well as ERA at 2.84 and have been at the top of the standings for the majority of the season.
The Generals are led by league-MVP candidate Mark Hudson, who leads the league with a .368 batting average. Hudson places in the top 5 in seven of the 10 major batting categories.
Currently, Victoria is slotted to face off against the fourth-place Brazos Valley Bombers in the first round of the playoffs. The playoffs follow a 1-2 format, so the top seeded-Generals would visit Brazos Valley on Sunday, before returning home for the second and third games of the series.
