Bombers & Budget Blinds Shut Out the Generals

Bryan-College Station, TX (June 14, 2010) – The Brazos Valley Bombers held on to win a nail biter against the Victoria Generals on Home Improvement Night, taking the game 1-0. Bombers’ pitchers Brian Borski and Matt Passauer combined to allow only four hits on the evening as Wes Patterson delivered all the offense the Bombers would need on the night.

Budget Blinds celebrated the evening by giving away an in home consultation to a lucky fan as the ballpark was decorated with work zone tape and traffic cones. The fans got into the action early and often as the game stayed close throughout.

The Bombers never had a base runner in the game until after the second out of an inning. In the fourth Tanner Toal drove a two out single into center field to reach base. Patterson stepped in, looking to play hero again and did just that, lofting a ball down the first base line that fell just out of the reach of the right fielder. Toal scored from first as he was running on contact with two out, but Patterson was thrown out trying to stretch the double into a triple. Though the inning was over, the damage was done, giving the Bombers the 1-0 lead they would hold on to the rest of the evening.

The Bombers success was in no small part due to the outstanding pitching. Borkski, the starter, rebounded from a tough first outing by going six and one third innings only allowing three hits. In the seventh he found himself in a jam with men on first and second, and turned the ball over to Passauer. Passauer gave up a single to the first man he faced, but slammed the door shut after that, working two and two thirds innings of scoreless ball, recording three strikeouts.

The Bombers will be back in action tomorrow evening against the Texas TomCats on World Record Night. Admission will be free to all fans thanks to Twin City Properties, and the Bombers expect a full house as they attempt to break numerous world records. Be sure to make it out to Brazos Valley Ballpark early because seating will be limited for this exciting evening. Also, you won’t want to miss out on a special announcement the organization plans to make. Gates open at 6p.m. and for more information visit the Bombers website at bvbombers.com, call 979-779-PLAY, or stop by the Bombers office at 405 Mitchell Street in Bryan.
