Bombers Sweep Home Series Against the Marshals

Bombers Sweep Marshals

Bryan/College Station, TX – July 1, 2018 – The Brazos Valley Bombers head into the TCL All-Star break riding a wave of momentum after completing their second consecutive sweep. They did so in dominant fashion allowing just one hit to the Texas Marshals en route to winning 6-0 in front of the Travis Field crowd on Princess Night at the Ballpark. The Bombers wasted no time getting on the scoreboard in tonight’s matchup. Leadoff hitter Cam Haller crushed the first pitch he saw over the left field fence to put the Bombers up 1-0. The Bombers would then add a run on a Zach Iverson sacrifice fly to increase the score to 2-0. The Bombers would double the lead in the 2nd inning, when Alex Nielsen drove in a pair of Bombers on a double. The Bombers would then add two runs in the 8th off of RBIs from Cam Haller on a single and Zach Iverson on a sacrifice fly to complete the scoring at 6-0. The story of the game was the Bombers pitching as Cody LeCompte, Bradley Griggs, Brad Verel, Cody Collins, Jaden Simmons, and Ben Butler combined for a one hitter, only allowing 5 base runners all game long. Making it more impressive, was that the Bombers elected to pitch no pitcher more than three innings. This marked the best pitching performance of the 2018 season for the Bombers and gives the club great confidence heading into the break. Coach Nelson is proud of the way his team is heading into the break, "Great way to finish for our team heading into the All-Star break. Our pitchers really dialed it in tonight. We got a lot of really positive individual performances both on the mound and at the plate. I'm proud of what this group has done in their first thirty games." The Bombers are off until Friday, June 6th when they will take on the Cane Cutters at Travis Field. Several Bombers are also expected to be a part of the 2018 TCL All Star festivities in Victoria, with the All Star Game taking place July 4th.
