Several alumni of the Texas Collegiate League are on the 2006 Wallace Watch announced Monday by the College Baseball Foundation. The Brooks Wallace Award is presented annually to the national college baseball player of the year.
Players on the 2006 Wallace Watch with TCL ties include the following:

INF Justin Baum, Pacific--played for Coppell in 2005
SS Shelby Ford, Oklahoma State--played for Coppell in 2004
OF Chad Huffman, TCU--played for Weatherford in 2004
OF Kyle Jones, Texas State--played for Denton in 2005
1B Matt McHargue, South Florida--played for Granbury in 2004
1B Brett Pill, Cal State Fullerton--played for Coppell in 2004
The Wallace Watch will be revised and updated during the 2006 college baseball season before being trimmed to 12 semi-finalists in late May. Three finalists will than be selected after the NCAA Super Regionals before the winner is chosen.
The 2005 Wallace Award recipient was 3B Alex Gordon of Nebraska, who is now with the Kansas City Royals organization.
