Texas Collegiate League alum Brandon Tripp (Weatherford Wranglers – 2004) has been named South Atlantic League Player of the Week for the week of April 16th to April 22nd. The Delmarva Shorebirds outfielder (class A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles) hit .545 with three doubles, two home runs, six RBI and a .955 slugging percentage.
Tripp, who was a part of the TCL’s inaugural season with the Weatherford Wranglers, entered the week hitting .378, and still found a way to raise his average 63 points. He currently leads the league with a .441 batting average and has tallied ten doubles, five home runs and 21 RBI.
For the week, the Cal-State Fullerton product has collected five straight multi-hit games, and scored at least one run in each of his last four. Tripp was drafted by the Orioles in the 12th round of the 2006 MLB draft.
