The McKinney Marshals completed the two-game sweep over the Coppell Copperheads to win their second championship in three years. McKinney avenged last season's loss to Coppell in the the Championship round with the series win. Despite coming out of a long battle against the Brazos Valley Bombers that left the Marshals tired and on edge, they were able to pull out two one-run wins over Coppell. The Copperheads appeared to be the favorite heading into the series after finishing out the season strong and quickly disposing of East Texas in two games, but they were unable to overcome the clutch hitting of McKinney. In game 1 with the score tied at five in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Marshals scored a run on Charlie Aceto to win the game in exciting fashion. The Copperheads were unable to recover as McKinney went on to close out the series with a 7-6 win the following day.
